Perplexity launches 70+ ready-to-run business automations

Staring at a blank prompt box might be the single biggest productivity killer in AI. You know the model can theoretically do anything, but figuring out the exact instructions to get a polished result usually takes more time than doing the task manually.

Perplexity wants to kill that friction entirely. The company just rolled out Workflows for Computer, packing over 70 pre-built business automations across finance, legal, sales, marketing, recruiting, and operations.

Available immediately to all subscribers, these templates let teams run complex multi-step tasks without guessing what prompt to write.

Automating the boring office stuff

Instead of making you craft multi-paragraph prompts, each Workflow packages expert instructions, the optimal underlying model, live web search, and data from your connected business apps into a single click.

Take sales prep as an example. Instead of digging through multiple tabs, the sales call prep workflow pulls prospect history from Salesforce, grabs internal context from Slack, scans recent news headlines across the web, and spits out personalized talking points before your meeting.

There is also a key driver analysis workflow that breaks down stock movements using fundamentals, peer data, and macro indicators. A final pass workflow checks uploaded documents for logic flaws, tone, and unverified data citations. There is even a website builder that generates launch-ready copy, design structure, and SEO tags based on a short brief.

Crucially, these Workflows are not just one-off chat replies. They can be scheduled, customized to match your company’s internal style, shared across teams, and executed asynchronously in the background.

Trimming enterprise SaaS fat

Perplexity is openly targeting what it calls enterprise software bloat. The company notes that average knowledge workers juggle more than 10 single-purpose SaaS tools every day, many of which only exist to shuffle information around or generate one-off deliverables.

By chaining real-time research with internal app integrations, Workflows aims to replace those single-use tools. For lean startups that cannot afford a dedicated financial analyst, SEO specialist, or full-time researcher, these automations bridge a massive capability gap.

Why it matters

For regular knowledge workers and small teams, this is worth testing right away. The hardest part of using agentic AI has always been steering it without going off the rails; packaged workflows turn open-ended AI into reliable, repeatable office plumbing.

Strategically, this shows Perplexity evolving far beyond an answer engine. It is moving straight into the enterprise workflow territory dominated by Microsoft Copilot, Notion, and specialized SaaS players. By bundling multi-model routing, live web research, and SaaS connectors, it makes single-feature enterprise tools look increasingly overpriced.

We think shifting from raw chatbot prompts to pre-packaged workflows is exactly where generative software has to go. The challenge, however, will be edge-case reliability. When an automated workflow touches live financial data or prospect records, even a small hallucination can derail a deal, meaning user oversight will remain non-negotiable.
