Claude Code lets you control terminal tasks from your phone
Anthropic just introduced Remote Control for Claude Code, letting developers manage terminal tasks straight from their smartphones. You can kick off a command on your local machine and take over from the Claude mobile app or browser while stepping away for a walk or meeting. Claude continues running in the background, freeing engineers from their desks.

Anthropic just added a Remote Control feature to Claude Code, giving developers a way to untether themselves from their desks.
You can kick off a command-line task in your terminal, walk away to grab a coffee or join a meeting, and manage the whole session right from your phone.
Your phone is now a terminal remote
The heavy lifting still runs on your primary machine. Claude keeps executing locally in the background, but you can monitor progress and issue commands through the Claude mobile app or via claude.ai/code on the web.
This is aimed directly at long-running jobs like hefty builds, automated test suites, and multi-step scripts. Instead of messing with complex SSH setups or clunky remote desktop interfaces on a small screen, you get a straightforward mobile interface to keep terminal processes moving.
Why it matters
For developers stuck babysitting long commands, this removes a persistent everyday annoyance. You can step away from your workstation without worrying that a paused prompt is holding up the entire pipeline.
We think this is a very smart product move. Anthropic isn't trying to force full-blown code editing onto a smartphone. Instead, it treats mobile purely as a remote control deck, leaving the heavy compute where it belongs.
The AI coding race is clearly expanding beyond raw model benchmarks into developer ergonomics. The tools that win will be the ones that adapt to how engineers actually move through their day.
